Marten Toonder
Marten Toonder (Rotterdam, May 2nd, 1912 - Laren, July 27th, 2005) was a Dutch draftsman and important author. It was sometimes qualified, because of the expressivity of its characters, European Walt Disney . Its principal creations are:
-
Tom Inch (in Dutch: Tom Poes)
- Mr. Pressibus
- Mr. Bommel
- small the Panda and its processions of assistants (of which his majordomo Jérémie Jolicœur , and the swindler sympathetic nerve Georges Bongarçon (or George Goodfellow , because in certain series its name was translated into English), which appeared in the magazine éponyme from Artima
- the captain Cappi . The cartoon Cappi and the inert mass provides an illustration very speaking about the difference (if there had been one of it) between mass of gravitation and mass in inertia . This cartoon was appeared in the daily newspaper the Cross .
Part of the production of Marten Toonder was as a cartoon with phylactères traditional. Another with dumb bands accompanied by a text in lower part of the images. These last, in France, were found rather in the daily press national and regional, whose quality of impression of the time would not have allowed a very good legibility of the phylactères. One finds also his works published in small size mainly with the World Editions (Del Duca) with the review Tom Pouce (40 numbers) and the complete account Arthur .
