History
Birth of the attack
In 1909, Jose Raúl Capablanca had severely beaten Frank Marshall in match (+8 -1 =14), and the following meetings were not happier for the player states-unien. With the tournament of New York, Capablanca and Marshall were at the head tournament, when they had to clash directly the October 23rd 1918. Marshall, which secretly prepared this attack (considered faulty at the time) since years, decided to use it for the first time against Capablanca.
