Marsat

Marsat is a common French, located in the department of the Puy-de-Dôme and the area of Auvergne. Marsat belongs to the urban surface of Clermont-Ferrand.

The inhabitants are called Marsadaires .

The commune of Marsat adheres to the Federation of the sites clunisiens, association European which deals with the promotion of the historic sites which depended on the Ordre of extinct Cluny to the Révolution.

The Couvent of the moniales Notre-Dame de Marsat was a Prieuré which depended on the Abbaye of Mozac before the Révolution.

History

August 14th 2004, approximately 500 militants anti GMO of the Collective of the Faucheurs volunteers destroyed the afternoon two pieces of Maïs Transgénique (5 hectares) in Marsat. Several elected officials took part in it while a counter-demonstration of Agriculteur S pro-GMO was also organized in Marsat.
