Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz

The area of Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz (in Arab: rear RTL مراكشتانسيفتحاوز) is one of the sixteen areas Morocco. It is in the center of the country, and includes part of the High Atlas. Its surface is of: 31160 km ², which accounts for 4,5% of the national territory, for a population of: 3102652 inhabitants. Its capital is Marrakech.

History

The area of Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz was created following the promulgation of the law n° 47/96 relating to the organization of the area and the decree n° 2.97.246 of August 17th, 1997 fixing the number of the areas, their territorial spring as well as the number of advisers to be elected.

Geography

Geographically, the area is limited to North by the areas of Chaouia-Ourdigha and Doukkala-Abda, in the West by the Atlantic Ocean, in the East by the area of Tadla-Azilal and in the South by the mountainous chain of the High Atlas (Area Under-Massed-Draâ)
