Marquisat
In the beginning, the term of Marquisat indicated a government of Frontière, then the Seigneurie bordering a border. The word comes from the term walk, of Latin marchio , who gave in Italian marchese . It indicates before a a whole border region with the borders. It is the equivalent of the German margraviat.
Under the Old Mode, the marquisat was composed of three Baronnie S and at least three Châtellenie S or of two baronnies and six châtellenies.
The Seigneur owner of a marquisat was a Marquis.
