Marquenterre

The Marquenterre is small a natural Région of France located along the Littoral of the Manche in Picardy. It extends from bay of Authie to the Baie of Somme on about fifteen kilometers. It is about an area of Dune S, pond S but also of meadows and cultures. It covers approximately 3.000 hectares.

Marquenterre is the cradle of the race of the horses Hensons. A ornithological reserve is established there. Many tourist equipment proposes a discovery of fauna and flora.

The name Marquenterre comes from the Latin expression pond in will terra - sea in the grounds -, a quite signicatif name to explain the marshy nature of its ground (source Bernard Daras).
