Maron (religious)

Saint Maron was born at the 4th century and he died towards 410. He was priest. Become hermit, it was withdrawn close to the town of Cyr on the Mont Taurus, in the area of Antioche. Festivals on February 9th (catholic Church Maronite) and on February 14th (orthodoxe Church). February 9th is national festival been unemployed in Lebanon.

The movement Maronite

Maron is regarded as the father of the spiritual and monastic movement now called Église Maronite , an important Christian church in Syria and with the Lebanon.

Maron passed all its life on a mountain in the area of Cyrrhus in Syria. This place could be “Kefar-Nabo” with the mount Al-Yambos.

The movement Maronite reached Lebanon when Abraham de Cyrrhus, the first disciple of Maron, went to Lebanon where it established a mission to convert pagan origin phenician.
