Marnaz
Marnaz is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Savoie and the area the Rhone-Alps. Located at the foot of the Chain of Bargy and bordered in north by the Arve, its inhabitants are Marnerottes and Marnerots. The name of the city probably comes from the marl contained in its ground.

History
The hamlet of Marnaz became, in 1842, chief town of the parish of Scionzier. Following dissensions in the municipal council as from 1830 with as not organ the construction of a new church to the localities Contaminates It, the commune of Marnaz was created on January 6th, 1866 by a decree of Napoleon III. The heart of the village is located at mountainside. Following the work of damming up begun in 1824, the development of the commune extends towards the bottom from valley.Construction in 1878 of a Town hall-School then in 1936 of the village hall which will also accommodate the town hall, before this one is not finally installed between the school and the Vault after the inauguration in 1973 of the Town hall-Station.
Development as from the years 1970 of the district of Valignons, between the RN 205 (known as White Road ) and the Arve with social housing construction and of sporting infrastructures.

Demography
Economy, employment, craft industry
Industry of the Undercutting.Artisanal pottery: The presence of rich person veins of marl at the edges of the Arve and a Savoyard tradition of glazed pottery allowed the development of the pottery of Marnaz, held since more than 2 centuries by the Guyot family. This pottery is one of the last traditional potteries in Haute-Savoie.

Vault whose first stone was posed in 1648.
Church " St Pierre in Liens" built of 1848 to 1851. Initially intended for the parish of Scionzier, it is allotted to the parish of Marnaz at the time of the scission of 1866. Estimating itself injured of one although they had partly financed, Schonverots (inhabitants of Scionzier) transfer to recover of night the bell of the Church. After judgment of the court, the bell was restored with its creator, the Fonderie Paccard.
March 22nd, 1869, a community of nuns of the Cross of Chavanod settles in Marnaz. It remained there until 1998.

Battery Brass band " The Echo of Bargy".Municipal harmony. Founded in 1936, the harmony is aujourd´hui consisted of 70 musicians very implied in the local life.
Demonstrations
The marnerotte is an hiking which formed part during a few seasons of an official circuit. Its course starts of the town hall of Marnaz to join the Lac Blesses by the place says the Boots.
