The Château Marmont is a Hôtel of Los Angeles, in California. It is located at the 8221 Sunset Boulevard, with West Hollywood.

Presentation

It was built in 1929 on the model of the Château of Amboise, in Loire Valley. This hotel is known to have been the theater of major events of the life of various American artists of the world of the music or the cinema:

  • Towards 1954, the actor James Dean climbed with a window during its hearing for the film the Fury of Living.

  • In 1956, when the actor Montgomery Clift is seriously wounded in an car accident close to his house, Elizabeth Taylor takes it along to the Marmont Castle. It rents the " penthouse" (continuation of great standing located on the last floor of the hotel and having a terrace), so that it is restored there. It should be noted that it saves to him the life at the time of the accident by removing two of its teeth to him which had been wedged in its trachea.
  • the March 5th 1982, the actor John Belushi (one of the Blues Brothers) dies of an overdose in one of the bungalows located in the gardens of the hotel.

  • Jim Morisson, leader of the Doors is wounded with the back at the time of acrobatics, immortalized in film of Oliver Stone. Its goal was to reach the window of its room while jumping of the roof of the hotel and by clinging to a pipe discharge. Unfortunately, it falls and loses thus the eighth of its nine lives, according to its dires.

  • the Led Zeppelin made motor bike in the hall of the hotel. They impressed the customers but caused also some damage…

  • the fashion photographer Helmut Newton, died, in January 2004, when its car struck a wall of the alley of access of the hotel.

  • Robert De Niro with the practice to withdraw itself with the hotel, where it rents the penthouse. It should be noted that it was present with Robin Williams at the time of died of John Belushi.

The hotel currently is held and managed by " AB" hotels; , group directed by famous the Andre Balazs (companion of Uma Thurman).

Musical universe

Château Marmont is also a group of pop independent Parisian formed in 2005 and composed of five members. It is located by Steve Lamacq, eminent DJ of BBC, thanks to the piece " Only Diamonds". At present, they still did not sign near a label.
