Marlim
Marlim is most important oil Gisement Brésil IEN.
He was discovered in 1985 to 110 km with broad of Rio de Janeiro (in the basin of Campos, by far the principal oil province of the country), with a depth of water being neighborly them: 1000 meters. At the time, oil exploration with such depths of water was only with its stammerings, and Petrobras was the pioneer on a world level.
The quantity of oil initially present in the layer was evaluated with: 9 Gbbls. However it is about an oil of bad quality (heavy and rich suffers from it) and the recoverable share was estimated at only 1,7 Gbbls - passed since with 2,7.
A layer of such size located in a depth of water constitutes a considerable development, and it is not astonishing that it became the floret of Petrobras. The development was done in five phases, service entrance of 1987 to 1999. Not less than 15 floating platforms exploit the layer.
Total production of the layer reached 500 kbbls /j. Nevertheless, it seems that it has just started to decline.
