Markala
Markala is a city of the Mali located in the district and the area of Ségou, on the river Niger, at 35 km of the town of Ségou.
The colonial authorities of the French Sudan made build in Markala a stopping for the irrigation to develop the culture of cotton, rice and the cane with sugar within the framework of the Office of Niger. Inaugurated in 1948 (or 1947?), it became most dam of water reserve of Mali.
Each year in March takes place with Markala the Festival of masks and puppets of Markala (Fesmamas).
