Marjorie Jackson
Marjorie Jackson-Nelson , AC, CVO, MBE, born the September 13rd 1931, is old the governor of the South Australia and an athlete. She finished her sporting career with two Olympic titles, seven titles with the Jeux of the Commonwealth and several world records.
Biography
Marjorie Jackson was born with Coffs Harbor in News-Wales from the South, and gained its first claims to fame by beating the Olympic champion of the 100 m and the 200 m Fanny Blankers-Koen several times in 1949. She was called the Flash of Lithgow , according to the town of Lithgow where she lived and had grown.After having gained four gold medals with the plays of the British Empire of 1950, Jackson was profiled like favorite Olympic Games of 1952 with Helsinki. It became Olympic champion of the 100 m by equalizing the world records in 11" 5 and of the 200 Mr. It gained the first medals for the Australian athletics since those of Teddy Flack in 1896. With other the excellent relayeuses ones, the team of Australia was also favorite relay 4 X 100 m but a bad passage of witness prevented Jackson from gaining a third gold medal. Later in the year, it improved the record of the 100 m in 11" 4.
In 1953, she married the racing cyclist Peter Nelson. After the death of this one in 1977 of a Leukemia, it founded the Peter Nelson Leukemia Research Fellowship .
Marjorie Nelson was one of the eight carriers of the Olympic banner to the Olympic Games of summer of 2000 with Sydney.
