Marius and Ary Leblond

Marius and Ary Leblond is the pen name of two historians, writer S, art critics and Journaliste S réunionnais, Georges Athénas and Aimé Merlo , in addition cousins. First February 26th 1877 was born the with Saint-Denis, the second the July 30th 1880 with Saint-Pierre.

Their work with four hands is in particular rewarded by the Prix Goncourt in 1909 for the novel In France , which tells the course of two young Creoles come to study with the Sorbonne. The colonial spirit marks their writing.

They occupied of the public stations, Marius ( Georges ) as secretary of the marshal Gallieni of 1914 with 1916, Ary ( Aimé ) like conservative of the museum of France overseas. One for this reason owes them the creation of the museum which bears the name of Leon Dierx to Saint-Denis of the Réunion, the Musée Leon-Dierx.
