Marius (usurping)
See also: Marius
Marius is a former Gallic blacksmith, proclaimed emperor by the Roman troops of Mainz which had just killed the emperor of Gaules Postume. The event, of dubious date, place either the year 268 or 269, according to the chronologies.
Marius was quickly eliminated for a personal quarrel: a former companion blacksmith become as soldier did not appreciate the contempt as Marius had expressed to him. He was introduced into his tent and killed it, a few days after its access to the capacity.
Marius is indexed among the Thirty Tyrants in the Histoire Auguste. Its existence is attested by its currencies.
