Mariss Jansons is a Latvian Leader , born the January 14th 1943 with Rīga

Biography

His/her mother, of Jewish confession, the met in the world in hiding-place (his/her father and brother with her having died in the Ghetto of Rīga). In 1946, his/her father Arvid Jansons, leader, gains the second price of a national competition and is chosen by Evgeni Mravinski to become its assistant with the Philharmonic orchestra of Leningrad.

When its family joined it in 1956, the Jansons young person integrates the conservatory city where he studies the Piano and the direction of orchestra, although his/her father pushes it to continue the study of the Violon. In 1969, it improves with Vienna near Hans Swarowsky and with Salzburg with Herbert von Karajan.

In 1973, Mariss Jansons is named leader attending the Philharmonic orchestra of Leningrad, Evgeny Mravinsky being the holder. In 1979, it becomes Musical director of the Philharmonic orchestra of Oslo with which it records and carries out many rounds. In 1992, it is named first invited chief of the Philharmonic orchestra of London, then musical director of the Symphony orchestra of Pittsburgh in March 1997.

In 1996, Jansons undergoes an attack whereas it directs the last pages of Bohemian the on its Pupitre to Oslo.

With the autumn 2003, its found health, it is promoted principal leader of the Symphony orchestra of Bavarian Broadcasting, succeeding Lorin Maazel. In September 2004, it also succeeded Riccardo Chailly at the musical position of director of the royal Orchestre of Concertgebouw of Amsterdam.

January 1st, 2006, it directs celebrates it concert of the New year to Vienna.

It made many recordings of which the integral of the symphonies of Dmitri Chostakovitch.
