Marion Dufresne 2

The Marion Dufresne (2nd of the name) is a ship of French oceanographical research, which ensures also the supply of the islands of the French southern Lands. It is based with the Réunion, but is registered with Port-with-French (the French base of the islands Kerguelen).

This ship belongs to the French company CMA-CGM.

Its name refers to Nicolas Thomas Marion-Dufresne, which discovered the islands Crozet.

It was built by the Ateliers and building sites of Le Havre and was delivered in 1995.

Southern route

Marion Dufresne 2 is the supply boat of TAAF. During a southern rotation (of approximately a month), it carries out the changings of personnel, the supply in vivres, materials and fuels on the island of the Possession, principal of the islands Crozet, on the islands Kerguelen, and finally on the island Amsterdam. On the island Saint-Paul or it basic, it made there there only one technical stop (marigraph) and tourist.
