Marion Brown

Marion Brown (born the September 8th 1935 with Atlanta in Georgia) is a saxophonist viola of Jazz and a ethnomusicologist.

Brown took part in the very first recordings of Free jazz like Fire Music of archie Shepp and Ascension of John Coltrane.

About the middle of the years 1960 he moved in Europe where he developed an interest for the African Musique. He is gone back to the United States in 1970 and started to teach the musical composition there.

Marion Brown also played with Harold Budd, John Fischer and Gunter Hampel.

Influence

The group of independent Rock Superchunk included a composition entitled " Song For Marion Brown" on the album Indoor Living room . Harold Budd recorded " Sweet Earth Flying" of Marion Brown on the album Luxated .
