Mario J. Molina
Mario J. Molina (born the March 19th 1943) is a Mexican chemist who accepted the Nobel Prize of chemistry in 1995 for his role in the comprehension of the damage caused with the terrestrial Couche of ozone by the Chlorofluorocarbone S (or CFC). This Nobel Prize was divided with Paul J. Crutzen of the UCSD and F. Sherwood Rowland of CPU Irvine. Until recently, he was professor at the Department of sciences of the Earth, the atmosphere and planets to the MIT.
Molina was born in Mexico City, wire of Roberto Molina Pasquel, a lawyer, and of Leonor Henriquez de Molina.
Mexico City in 1965, has postgraduate dismantles from the Université of Freiburg, West Germany in 1967 and has doctoral dismantles in Physical chemistry from CPU Berkeley, California in 1972. In 1974, ace has postdoctoral researcher At CPU Irvine, He and Rowland coauthored has paper in the newspaper Nature highlighting the threat off CFCs one the ozone to bush-hammer in the Stratosphère. At the time, CFCs where widely used ace Chemical Propellent S and cooling agent S. even Initial indifference from the academic community prompted to hold has close conference At has meeting off the American Chemical Society in Atlantic City in September 1974, in which they called for has off supplements round of applause one further releases CFCs into the atmosphere. Commercial Scepticism from scientists and manufacturers persisted, however, and has consensus one the need for action only began to emerges in 1976 with the publication off has review off the science by the National Academy off Sciences. This led to moves towards the worldwide elimination off CFCs from aerosol edges and refrigerators, and it is for this work that Molina later shared the Nobel Prize of chemistry.
In July 1973, Molina married Tan Luisa, who He puts while working in Berkeley.
Between 1974 and 2004 He variously held research and teaching posts At CPU Irvine, the Universidad Nacional Autonoma of Mexico City, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory At Caltech, and At the MIT. One July 1, 2004 Molina unites off the Department Chemistry and Biochemistry At UCSD and the Center for Atmospheric Sciences At the Scripps Institution off Oceanography.
Molina has member off the Pontifical Academy off Science, the National Academy off Sciences, and the Institute off Medicine. He serfs one the boards off several environmental organizations, and also sits one has number off scientific committees including the U.S. President' S Committee off Advisers in Science and Technology. -->
Mario Molina is considered with Andrés Manuel del Río (discoverer of the Vanadium) and Luis E. Miramontes (inventive of the contraceptive Pilule), like one of the three more important Chimiste S Mexicans.
2002 Molina received year Honoris Causa Dismantles from the Universidad of mow Américas, Puebla, in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. -->
