Mario Giacomelli
Mario Giacomelli (1925, Senigallia, Italy - November 25th 2000, even place) was a Photographe Italy N.
Biography
In 1934, his/her father dies and his/her mother becomes washing machine in an old people's home.He works as of 1938 in a printing works and is strongly interested in the typographical characters. During the war, printing works is destroyed but it rebuilds it, works there, and during its spare time, painted abstract compositions (from where arise a certain materiality). Also, it launches out with a great interest in poetry and the race automobile.
In 1952, a serious accident during a race convinces it to give up this passion. It buys its first camera and immediately feels a bond between this one and its practice of painter. It arranges its apparatus, assembles its laboratory of photography and makes the choice use from the beginning a paper contrasted in its work.
It becomes acquainted with Giuseppe Cavalli thanks to which it enters a group of photography amateur: MISA where personalities are present: Piergiorgio Branzi, Alfredo Camisa, Silvio Pellegrini. It turns over to the old people's home where it will work photography during three years ( Vie of old people's home ) while also being interested in the photographs of landscapes and dead natures like with the exploitation of the chance. It gains in 1955 the first price with the national exposure of Castelfranco Veneto. He says that
most beautiful phtos is those, perhaps, which one does not do, because if they had been done, something would have been wasted
.
He undertakes (always only) short voyages to Scanno, Peschici and Lourdes.
With the beginning of the year sixty, it meets Luigi Crocenzi, in agreement with its will of narrative photography .
In 1963, John Szarkowski, director of the department of Photography of the Museum of modern art of New York, buys its photographs of Scanno for the collection of the Masters of photography internationale.
One year afterwards, it carries out a new series of photographs devoted to the seasons and the ground. During one year, it follows the rhythm of life of a family of peasants (harvests, festivals, harvests, etc).
Then, it remakes visits with the old people's home and changes the title of its work: the Death will come which will have your eyes .
It photographs tree trunks cut in a search of the Abstraction and carries out a series of photographs color: the Building site of the landscape by binding to photography poetry and abstract painting.
From 1969 to 1980, it particularly is interested in the Lyric abstraction and carries out various series. It continues its lyric poems and works with the Rêve (account.). In 1997 it decorates the coffee cups Italian with collection It .
Its sources of inspiration are, inter alia, Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee, Osvaldo Licini, Giorgio Morandi, Robert Rauschenberg and Barnett Newman.
