Mario Adorf

Mario Adorf is a German actor ( to see discussion ) born the September 8th 1930 with Zurich.

Distinguished by many prices, it is one of the current actors of German and Italian language most outstanding on the scene, with the screen and on television.

Origins and studies

Mario Adorf is the natural son of Alice Adorf, assistant German radiologist of Alsatian origin (see discussion) and of an Italian surgeon (Calabrian) married, Dr. Matteo Menniti. It grew near his mother in Germany with Mayen in the mountainous region of the Eiffel. He attended the kindergarten of the sisters of Borromée and the elementary school. As from 1950, he studied philosophy, psychology, criminology, the literature, the history of the music and the dramaturgy at the university of Mainz. He formed also part of a club of boxing and was member of a theatrical troop of students.

In 1953, it went to Zurich to continue its studies there and worked little time like Appearing and assisting Director with the theater Schauspielhaus of Zurich. It stopped its training of actor however but continued them at the famous school Otto Falckenberg of Munich. In 1954, it had its first roles with the theater Kammerspiele of Munich where it was engaged at the end of its studies of 1955 to 1962.

Career

After having played some small roles with the cinema, he was discovered by more a general public for his interpretation of a murderer mysogyne psychopathe in Nachts, wenn der Teufel kam (the night, when the devil came). Thereafter, it was confined during many years in the role of “malicious”.

In the epopee style Western Winnetou (according to the novel of Karl May), it is him which held the role of Santer, the enemy of the Indian chief Winnetou of which it kills the Ntcho-Tchi sister (played by Marie Versini). In Die Herren put DER weissen Weste (men with the white waistcoats), it played the gangster Bruno “Dandy” Stiegler.

He was also an international success with the cinema. Its repertory extended since the roles from small shadies and rough and went to the gangster chiefs and to the honourable members of the high society.

It is also marked by its Italian culture. In Die Ermordung Matteottis (the assassination of Matteotti) it incorporated the „Duce “Mussolini.

He was not ignored a new German cinema. In the film Die verlorene Ehre der Katharina Blum (lost honor of Katarina Blum, according to the novel of Heinrich Böll), he was the Beizmenne police chief.

In Die Blechtrommel (the drum, according to the novel of Fatty Günter) he played the part of the Mazerath father who dies choked while swallowing through his badge of the Nazi party NSDAP in a cellar during a bombardment).

About the middle of the years 1980, its brand image changed. He became the ideal prototype to interpret the patriarchs in any kind, in particular the crooks as in DER gross Bellheim (large Bellheim).

He was inter alia, the German voice of the dragon in Dragonheart . Adorf appeared in many productions for television, in particular in those of the director Dieter Wedel but it forever completely abandoned the scene. During last years, he wrote books and also occurred as singer. He takes part moreover in light comedies like “Der Fenstersturz”.

In 2007, he was member of the jury of the cinematographic international festival of Berlin chaired by the American realizer Paul Schrader.

Private life

Adorf is married in second weddings since 1985 with the old mannequin Monique Faye (* 1946). His first wife was the actress Lis Verhoeven of which it had a girl, Stella Maria Adorf, become she also actress.

There remained faithful to the town of Mayen where he passed his childhood and accepted several engagements there. It is there the president of the festival Burgfestspiele .
