Marimbault whose site was inhabited since Antiquity, would be the contraction of two words: the first would indicate in Latin a farm; the second, Ragimbald, being a name of anybody Germanic. One can thus think that it was formerly, in this place, a farm or a field of Ragimbald. Other research leans for farmhouse (house) and Imbal or bault (for the name). No certainty, opinion with the researchers!Church of in the middle of the village
The Romance church Saint-Vincent, altered at various times, depended, since 1188, of the canons of Bazas. It presents a curious frontage with machicolation, classified with the historic buildings. This one being pressed on thick and projecting buttresses and a bell-tower with broken bay arcade bored with two hoods. The machicolations were particularly useful in the exterior angles of the fortifications, bringing fires defensive to the top of the doors and windows which could become the object of an attack to gain the entry of a building. With the top of a buttress, in the axis of the apse, is a window now walled. Most probably the sanctuary was built on the site of a Gallo-Roman villa. Many remainders of mosaics of the 4th century, with the very interesting drawings, were employed again with. Recovered they are exposed to the museum of Bazas. Many a wood of coniferous tree and leafy trees make of Marimbault a place of calm and ideal rest for holidays with the great outdoors but especially for the life of the every day. Thus after like many villages having lived the turning into a desert, Marimbault sees many new constructions. These new inhabitants renovate the Middle Age of the population. Many remainders of mosaics of the 4th century, with the very interesting drawings, were employed again with. Recovered they are exposed to the museum of Bazas.
