Marik Ishtar

Marik Ishtar is a character of the Manga/Anime Yu-Gi-Oh! . It is called Marek Ishtar in animates.

Its history

In the series Yu-Gi-Oh!, Marik Ishtar is the owner of the Axe (also called Sceptre or Rod) Millénaire/du Millénium, which enables him to create a play of the shades and to control the spirit of an individual. It is thanks to it that he could create the organization of the plunderers of the shade, or ghouls. Its goal is to be avenged for the Pharaon (double of Yugi Muto) and to adapt its infinite capacities in order to replace it. For that, it must have in its possession the three charts of Egyptian Gods: Obélisk Tourmenteur, the Flying Dragon of Osiris/Slifer the Celestial Dragon and the Winged Dragon of Râ.

These two last at the beginning are in its possession. To have the infinite capacity, it also needs the Thousand-year-old Puzzle. Therefore it will defy Yugi via its mental slave, Sting the Silencer (a man which was his/her own parents that Marik has under its control thanks to its Item Thousand-year-old). But it will lose the duel, and Yugi gains Osiris (Slifer) thus. It will go then until turning over the friends of Yugi against him with its Thousand-year-old Axe. But it will still fail vis-a-vis the indestructible friendship which binds Yugi and Katsuya Jono-Uchi (Joey Wheeler). However, as surprising as that can appear, Marik which one sees on this level of the history is its good side. Indeed, darkness took possession of its body and they will emerge at the time of the final stage of Battle City (Battle City), when Rishido (Odion) loses conscience against Jono-Uchi. It will plunge May Kujaku (May Valentine), Ryô Bakura and Jono-Uchi in the Kingdom of Ombres.
At the time of these three duels, it will show the any power of its Winged Dragon of Râ. Double of Marik

To know the origin of its double personality (a point how that it has with Yugi and Bakura although in their case, in fact spirits has them), it is necessary to go back to its 10th birthday. Indeed, Marik was born in the very prestigious clan from Ishtar, guards of the memory of the Pharaon who is not other than Yugi. The purpose of this clan is, from generation to generation, of wire father, to tattoo in the back the secrecy of the place where the memory of the Pharaon without name is hidden. This tattooing indicates also this qu it is necessary to be recognized like the true Pharaon, i.e. the charts of the Égyptiens.
Gods But Marik curses its destiny of guard of the memory and request to its servant and adoptive brother Rishido to replace it in this so important role. Rishido thinks whereas by accepting this request, it would become true Ishtar, having been adopted by the clan. Only, Rishido not being a member of the Ishtar clan by blood, this request was refused. Marik due to be solved to accept (of force) the ritual. From this day was born the dark side from Marik. Unfortunately for this entity, Rishido decided to tattoo to him even a prayer on the face to calm the anger of its Marik.
Master One day that Marik, locked up in the tomb since its birth, fugua with his/her sister Isis (Shizu) to see the sun, it was made take by his/her father while returning. It found Rishido, which had contributed to the running away, tortoise by his father. When Rishido fell disappeared, its double awoke. And its first reflex was to cut the throat of his/her own father.
It is only when Rishido awoke that the good side of Marik took again the top. Since this day, Marik kept a hatred and a resentment towards immense Yugi, thus allowing has its double to grow more and more. A monster covered with drilling machines. Its level is not very exceptional.
Nudrua
This monster has a special capacity: when it attacks, whatever the level of the unfavourable monster, it are destroyed both.
Dark Jelloid
At the time or this monster is called upon, its owner can choose an unfavourable monster and make him lose 800 pts…
Lord Poison
It is rather weak monster and does not have special capacity.
Poet of the hell Hell Poemer
Here is a rather frightening monster: when it is destroyed, this chart joined the cemetery of the adversary to haunt it. The adversary will thus lose a chart of its hand taken randomly by the poet with each turn.
Gil Gurth
It is a monster at the high level of attack (1800) but does not have special capacities.
Legend Devil
This monster is very frightening because it gains 700 pts of attack to each turn. However, it is already strong at the time of its invocation (1800 pts).
Golem washed
It is a monster of higher category (8 stars) and has one of extremely powerful attack (3000). Nevertheless, this chart must play against its owner at the time when this one calls upon it. Of course, the adversary at a price to pay to use it: first of all, this chart can be called upon only by sacrificing two monsters belonging to the adversary. Moreover, this last loses 700 pts life with each turn as long as this monster is concerned.
Striking down the larva vampire
This monster even attacks the adversary at the time or it appears on the ground and can then pass directly in defensive mode if its owner sends one of the charts of his hand to the cemetery.
Juragedo
A rather banal monster of 1700 points of attack.
Revival Slime
It is a rather exceptional monster and confers on its owner a defensive capacity coming very close to illegality: it does not fear any attack, and regenerates as much time than it is destroyed.
God Slime
Copy of the giant soldier of the obelisk, this slime has 3000 pts of defense. It cannot carry attacks.
Granadora
A powerful monster which has 1900 pts of attack, but not of special capacity.
Boganian
It is about a monster at the acceptable level of attack (1300) but which has a special faculty: its presence on the playing field inflicts with its adversary 300 pts of damage to each turn.

The Winged Dragon of God Râ Sun
Here is finally the most powerful monster of this play. Its levels of attack and defense are given from those of the three monsters which were sacrificed so that it can be called upon (the monsters of divine category (10 stars) need 3 sacrifices to appear): all their points of attack are added and form the level of attack of this God (idem for the points of defense). It lays out, rather exceptional fact, of three special capacities. First of all, when he is called upon, he appears in the shape of a luminous sphere floating in the sky. The dragon can be released only if somebody recites the ancient text printed on his chart (even if it is not the player who called upon it). This text can be stressed only by one person knowing to read the language of the guards of the tombs (not so easy!). Impossible thus for somebody of " normal" to use this God. Its second capacity is to amalgamate with the player who called upon it. This last must sacrifice all its points of life (but keeps any only one to be able to continue to play), these point of life are converted into points of attack and defense for the dragon. In against part, the player does nothing any more but one with God. The third capacity of this monster is to transform itself into " God Phénix" , a bird of fire which, when its owner gives up 1000 pts life, destroyed all the monsters concerned and keep silent the adversary by carbonizing it.
