The Théâtre Marigny is located Avenue Fields-Élysées, in the VIII {{E}} district of Paris

In 1835, a physicist-conjurer proposes spectacles of “amusing physics, phantasmagoria and curiosity” with the Carré Marigny , which is quickly renamed Folies Marigny . In 1855, Offenbach takes the direction under the current name of it, Théâtre Marigny . The room is rebuilt in 1880 by Charles Garnier, the architect of the Opera of Paris, then again in 1925 to increase the room.

In 1948, under the impulse of its director Simone Volterra, the Marigny Theater calls upon actors of the Comédie-Française to constitute a troop “house”, it is the creation of the “Company Renaud - Barrault”. In 1965 the direction is ensured by Elvire Popesco, and currently by Robert Hossein.

The Marigny theater accommodated, of 1966 with 1988, the television program “With the theater this evening” like several “Cérémonies of Molières”
