History
Marieux is located on the old Roman way of Amiens, Arras by Puchevillers, Thiévres and Not-in-Artois. This way led in England, from where its importance. It was thus protected by fortresses and camps especially brought closer because of the passage of Authie. The castle built in 1777 still currently exists and still currently belongs to the family OF CHIZELLE. During the First World War, the castle of Marieux is used as general headquarter with a British body which holds part of the face of the Sum. October 25th, 1915, the king Georges V receives there with lunching President Poincaré and the main leaders of the French Armies and British. It is necessary to notice the monumental gate and its well decorated grid, like in background, the farm of the castle dominated by an octagonal stone dovecote, also of the 17th century.
