Marie d\' Egmont

Marie d' Egmont or of Gueldre , born with Grave in 1432, died with Edinburgh the November 16th 1463 was girl of Arnold d' Egmont, duke of Gueldre and Catherine de Clèves.

She married in Edinburgh the July 3rd 1449 Jacques II (1430 † 1460), king d' Écosse and had:

  • Stuart (1450 young †)
  • Marie (1451 † 1488), married in 1467 (separate in 1473) with Thomas Boyd († 1474), count d' Arran, then in 1474 Jacques Hamilton (1415 † 1479), first lord Hamilton
  • Jacques III (1453 † 1488), king d' Écosse
  • Marguerite, married (separate in 1520) with William, lord Crichton
  • Alexandre (1454 † 1485), Duke of Albany
  • David (v.1455 † 1457), Count de Moray
  • Jean (1459 † 1479), Count of Mar and Garioch

Her husband died accidentally at age the thirty years and it ensured regency in the name of her son. It founded for the rest of her husband the church of Trinity College, of which there remains nothing any more but one apse. It was buried there, although its burial was moved in the abbey of Holyrood in 1848.
