Marie Catherine Sophie, countess of Agoult , born viscountess de Flavigny the December 31st 1805 with Francfort-sur-le-Main and dead the March 5th 1876 with Paris, also known under the Pseudonym of Daniel Stern , is a writer French.

Biography

Girl of the French aristocrat emigrated Alexandre Victor François de Flavigny (1770 - 1819) and of Maria Elisabeth Bethmann (1772 - 1847, resulting from a Jewish family German converted with the Christianity), Marie de Flavigny was educated in a monastery in France. She married the count Charles Louis Constant of Agoult, (1790 - 1875) the May 16th 1827. She leaves it the August 19th 1835 after him to have given two girls, Louise (1828 - 1834) and Claire (1830 - 1912), who will marry the Marquis Guy de Girard de Charnacé (1825 - 1909).

She lived of 1835 with 1839 with the Compositeur Franz Liszt of which she had three children:

To note its tumultuous friendly relation with Georges Sand.

Its friendship was invaluable with Julie-Victoire Daubié, first graduate of France, which it comparison with the journalistic medium.

It was, with its death, buried in the section n° 54 of the Cimetière of the Father-Lachaise.

Its first stories, Herve , Julien , Valentia , Nélida (Anagram of Daniel), appeared in 1841 - 1845. Its most known work (written under the pseudonym of Daniel Stern ) is the Histoire of the Revolution of 1848 in 2 volumes (1851). Its other works include the Esquisses morals (1849), Three days of the life of Marie Stuart (1856), Florence and Turin (1862), Histoire of the beginnings of the republic in the Netherlands (1872) and My memories published on a purely posthumous basis (1877).

Anecdote

To Paris, a street bears its name, in the 15th district (Rue Daniel Stern).
