Marie Room
Girl of the dancers Etienne Room and Marie-Alberte Moylin, Marie Sallé is a Danse uses French born towards 1707 and died in Paris the July 27th 1756.
She takes her first steps in the family troop, with the Foire the St. Lawrence of 1718 and appears for the first time with the royal Académie of music in 1721, replacing with the improvist Francoise Prévost, of which she is the pupil.
The troop of the Opera being complete, Marie Sallé is turned over to the Fair then share from there to dance with London in 1725 with his/her François brother. Of return to Paris two years later, it makes its official beginnings with the Opera the December 14th 1727, in the Loves of the gods , ballet of Fuzelier, music of Mouret. Until its retirement in 1740, it obtains several vacation to occur regularly in London.
Called “the Vestal” because of his irreproachable manners, it develops a gracious, expressive and engraved dance, contrasting with that of his rival Marie-Anne de Camargo. In the Characters of the dance , in 1729, it dances with Laval in costume of city and without mask, revolutionizing the traditional practice and anticipating the reforms of Noverre.
It is one of the female first “Chorégraphe S”, creating several dramatic ballets for the Opera: Pygmalion and Bacchus and ARIANE (1734), entered of the the gallant Indies (1735), of gallant Europe (1736) and of the Festivals of Hébé (1739).
Friend of Garrick and Haendel, it was admired by Voltaire which dedicated these worms to him:
