Marie Joseph Eustace d\' Osmond
Marie Joseph Eustace d' Osmond , known as the Viscount of Osmond, is a French soldier born with Saint-Domingue the May 6th 1756 and died in the Château of Pontchartrain on October 1st 1839.
Wire junior by Louis Eustace d' Osmond, 3rd marquis d' Osmond, and of the marchioness born Marie Louise de Pardieu de Maucomble, it was sent in very young France and became second lieutenant with the regiment of Burgundy in 1774. Reformed in 1776, it was named captain attached to the regiment of Orleans-Cavalry in 1777 thanks to the protection of the Duc of Orleans, Louis Philippe of Orleans (1725-1785), to which his/her uncle Gabriel Barnabé Louis d' Osmond (1716 - 1792), count d' Osmond, was attached. Promoted to the rank of major, it was attached to the infantry in 1779. Master of camp as a second of the regiment of Cambrésis on April 23rd 1781, it became in 1788 main of camp ordering the regiment of Neustrie-Infantry, in garrison with Strasbourg, then with Schlestadt. He was made knight of the Ordre of Saint-Louis in 1787 and was promoted Brigadier on March 1st 1791.
He emigrated and was used in the army as Condé. In April 1793, he was lieutenant as a second of the company n° 4 of the noble infantry. Passed in England, it became in December 1794 lieutenant colonel of Hulans Britanniques of Saint Domingue, also said Dragons of Charmilly, also called Lanciers of Osmond. This body existed until September 1795.
Extraordinary police chief of the king in the 22e military division in Tours in May 1814, it was named general Lieutenant armies of the king on June 23rd 1814, gentleman ordinary of the room, commander of the royal and military order of Saint-Louis on May 1st 1821.
In February 1789, it had married Miss de Vigée. It remaria with Anne Marie Marthe Gilbert of the Neighbors, girl of Pierre Paul Gilbert of the Neighbors, President with mortar with the Parliament of Paris and Anne Marie de Merle of Beauchamps. It had of this second marriage a son Charles Marie Eustace d' Osmond (N. in 1796), which became baron of the Empire to the death of his/her uncle, the bishop of Nancy, in 1823.
He died in 1839 with the Château of Pontchartrain, which belonged then to its nephew, Rainulphe d' Osmond.
