Marie Crucifiée Costantini
Marie Crucifiée is the founder of the Moniales passionists.
Born on August 18th, 1713 in Corneto in a family “in sight”, Costantini, it became bénédictine with the monastery of co. Lucia in 1733. It made there its profession in 1734 under the name of Sr. Maria Candida Crocifissa.
She met later a few years (1737) Paul of the Cross, which became its spiritual director. She felt the need for a deep God union, taking into account the impulses and of the mystical phenomena which she lived: phrases, visions, extases.
She will be first higher monastery of the moniales passionists, founded in Corneto on May 3rd, 1771. Woman of experiment, formed during 37 years at the school of Paul of the cross, it will throw with insurance the spiritual foundations of the female branch of the passionists (Passioniste).
She dies holily in 1787. The Church proclaimed it worthy on November 17th, 1982.
