Marie Claire

Marie Claire is a female Magazine monthly French created in 1937 and published by the Groupe Marie Claire. The title was the subject of adaptation under license to the the United States and the the United Kingdom (in English). In Metropolitan France, its selling price in kiosk is of 2,50 € (October 2006).

History

Marie Claire is created by Jean Prouvost in 1937 in the form of weekly magazine. The magazine is then perceived like a “threat with chastity and fidelity” by the clergy. After the French demolished of 1940, the publication of the magazine, like majority of the titles of French press, is suspended in 1942. The magazine reappears only in 1954 in the form of monthly magazine. After the retirement of Jean Prouvost in 1976, his/her Evelyne daughter takes the direction of the title, then yields its place in 2004 to his/her own son Arnaud de Contades.

Editorial contents

The magazine contains various headings on the mode, the Tourisme, the Cinéma, the literature, the music, the spectacles and the exposures, the cosmetics, of the portraits of stars and unknown people in France and in the world, of the councils to be in form, the councils on the life in couple, of the receipts of kitchen, the new food products and the accessories for the kitchen, a play-test and a horoscope.

Drafting

Since March 1999, the director of the drafting is Tina Kieffer, journalist, former TV host (of which the emission Frou-Frou on France 2) and ex-writer as a chief of the female magazine DS (Jalou group). Catherine Durand is assistant editor association. Marie-Noëlle Demay is editor association of the service mode. In 2006, the drafting does not count any more that seven paid journalists, the essence of the editorial contents being provided by Pigiste S. Between 1999 and 2006, six editor associations followed one another under the orders of Tina Kieffer (of which Lydia Bacrie, Dominique de Saint Pern, Béatrix of Aulnoit and Yseult Williams). In March 2006, trade unions SNJ-CGT and SNJ made circulate a petition to denounce the methods of management of Tina Kieffer.
