Holy Marie-madeleine Postel , born Julie Francoise-Catherine with Barfleur the November 28th 1756 and died with Saint-Saver-the-Viscount the July 16th 1846, is a holy catholic, founder of the Congregation of the sisters of the Christian Schools of the Mercy (1807).

Girl of a rope-maker of Barfleur, it is sent at the bénédictines Valognes, then returns in 1776 in her birthplace to open a school for poor children.

During the Revolution, it helps the priests tracked to flee in England and organizes clandestine masses. The calm income, it seeks to create a community in direction of poor youth and founds, in 1807, the Congregation of the sisters of the Christian Schools of the Mercy. The congregation settles successively with Octeville-l' Avenel, Valognes and Tamerville, before finding in 1832 in the old woman Benedictine abbey of Saint-Saver-the-Viscount, dating from, its final residence, that the sisters rebuilt. Her death, the happy sister Placide Viel succeeds to him.

She also opened a boarding school of young girls with Cherbourg.

Béatifiée in 1908, canonized the May 24th 1925, one celebrates it the July 16th.
