Marie-Joseph Angelica

Marie-Joseph Angélique is one of rare the slaves black to have lived in News-France. It was born towards 1710 with the Portugal. She was shown to have caused the Incendie of the town of Montreal in 1734.

Following threats of sale by its mistress, Madam de Francheville, widow of François Poulin de Francheville, she is shown to have put fire at the residence of her mistress street St-Paul, who was propagated then with the Hôtel-Dieu.

She was also the first to be expressed publicly against the Esclavagisme. (source requested)

One carried out it on the public place at the 24 years age to Montreal the June 21st 1734.
