Marie-Christine of Belgium

The princess Marie-Christine, Daphne, Astrid, Elisabeth, Léopoldine of Belgium was born the February 6th 1951 with the castle from Laeken. His/her parents are the king Léopold III of Belgium and his second wife Lilian Baels, titrated princess of Réthy.

She has a brother the prince Alexandre of Belgium and a sister the princess Marie-Esméralda, but all three do not enter the order of succession to the throne. She is also the half-sister of the large-duchess Joséphine Charlotte of Luxembourg, of the kings Baudouin and Albert II.

From 1951 to 1960, the princess Marie-Christine lives with the royal family with the castle of Laeken and one from time to time sees it at the time of official ceremonies. At the request of the Belgian government, the king Léopold III agrees to leave Laeken in 1959. One year later, it settles with his second wife and their three children with the royal field of Argenteuil, renovated and placed at its disposal by the Belgian State. It is there that the princess Marie-Christine will receive a teaching in residence.

With beginning of the year 80, the princess Marie-Christine breaks with her family and leaves food to the Canada and the the United States. May 23rd, 1981, she marries with Miami (Florida) Paul Druker. The divorce takes place later two months. In 1983, it returns to Belgium for the death of her father the king Léopold III but does not witness its funeral. Marie-Christine marries in second weddings Jean-Paul Gourgues on September 28th, 1989. The couple does not have children.

Following various financial problems, it will be made pay to give interviews to the Belgian press, which will encourage his/her half-brothers kings Baudouin and Albert II to send money to him. In 2002, it does not return for the death of her mother the Lilian princess with whom it did not have any more contacts. The princess Marie-Christine then wrote her autobiography, entitled " The brisure" , which constitutes an indictment against his/her mother.
