Marie-Chantal Toupin

Marie-Chantal Toupin (July 14th 1971 -) is a Québécois singer born with Montreal, in the district Rosemont.

Born in the Rosemont district in Montreal on July 14th, 1971, Marie-Chantal Toupin, benjamine of three girls, Nathalie and Lyne moved three months later with Longueuil when his/her father decided to sell the family restaurant. It is at the dawn of childhood that the small blonde carried out the hardness and the poverty which reigned in its new environment. " A childhood rock' N roll" , it with the passing of the years describes. Already with the nursery school, Mayfair nitwit put up itself badly with the restrictions of the school. It disputed regularly with her parents not to give the feet there.

And with this intention, all the occasions were good. As soon as the visit arrived, the small one was going to put the linen room of his/her mother and went up upright on the table of the living room in order to give them a show.

But at a certain time, the future singer wanted a public different, " large a public" remembers she, having expressed with her father whom it had already found his way (voice). The dad, having carried out the artistic potential of his benjamine, had already tried to satisfy it in him making follow courses of accordion even if the family budget did not allow it. But it was not sufficient (nor interesting) for Marie-Chantal. Having heard of a Mister who organized contests of amateurs, she begged her father to come into contact with him. When Marie-Chantal reached her eleven years, there was change of " gérant". The alcoholism of his/her worsening father, it is his/her uncle who took his niece under his wing. Cassette in hand, l'" uncle-manager " brought the young girl to hearings of the emission " Chanterelles" , a contest of amateurs televised whom animated Marguerite Blais with TV-Metropolis. At the time of the recording, it decides that it does not want to make the song of Chantal Paris any more and chooses to interpret a part of Nathalie Simard. Badly took some to him because the judges estimated that it resembled the little sister of Rene too much. As of this moment, Marie-Chantal promised itself that she would sing henceforth with her manner and her style.

At fourteen years, Marie-Chantal decides to take retreat because the doubt settles; does she sing for her parents or itself? It is also the beginning of adolescence and all the problems which are attached to it. Hating the school more and more, it only goes there to give pleasure with her father. But the entourage of the Toupin young person is brutal and it is not rare only it presents to the house the ensanglanté face, even as a a little stamped neighbor takes pleasure to strike it by insulting it. While being able more to see his daughter thus abused, Toupin dad decides to teach him the way of defending himself. However, at sixteen years, an event was going to mark it so much so that it could all have dropped. At the school beginning of one New Year's Day, on September 8th, 1987, whereas it was going to undertake its secondary 3, his/her dear father is struck of a virulent infarction and fall to the feet from Mayfair nitwit by looking at it right in the eyes and while trying to tell him some thing. Panicked, this one takes refuge in a neighbor whom it knows with the catches with cardiac problems, asks for a pill of " to him; nitro" but when it returns to it, he is too late…

His/her father was deceased at the 46 years age. For this day, it has always granted much importance to the glance, with the eyes of people. Three weeks later, whereas it turned over to the school, an argument with a girl of its class about a professor who, seems he, a little too Marie-Chantal chouchoutait ends in a brawl in due form and consequently a suspension of the school. After being itself assured that the other girl was going to obtain the same punishment, Marie-Chantal left the school not to return there, even if it were the wish expensive of his/her father.

But the true reason of its final departure of the school is that Toupin mom, patient and ploughed up following the drama which it had just lived, were moreover to lose all the goods of the house for a history of taxes not paid by the father of alive sound. Obliged to be registered with " wellbeing social" , she asks Marie-Chantal and her Nathalie sister (fourteen months old) to go to work to provide for the needs for the family. In front of hard reality, Marie-Chantal is thus an employment in a pharmaceutical company, one manufacturing of pills and frosts. This change was going to hustle the life of the young girl but it was not with its first work. Having always lived in poverty, it and its sister had found " means; to follow the mode" , Marie-Chantal remembers. In addition to selling door-keys, charts, pencils and to pass from the circulars of door to door, they sold the empty beer bottles that their father had consumed during the week and separated the incomes into two. They could thus buy a clothing at the fifteen days.

Débrouillarde, Marie-Chantal thought already of her " " trousseau; as of the twelve years age. Each occasion of gifts, she asked crockery, cutlery and towels in order to be ready when comes time to leave the house. What it did besides to its sixteen years by leaving the family home to go to live in the Cantons of the east with its first buddy. The father of this one being pisciculturist, Marie-Chantal quickly learned the breeding from trout and crayfish. At the same time, it decided to turn over to the studies.

One hour of car per evening to go to the courses of education to the adults in order to supplement his secondary 5. After a few months, Marie-Chantal returns to Montreal and unearths some odd jobs (in a butchery, inter alia) before deciding to present themselves to the office chief of the Royal Bank, without notice, and to ask for a meeting with the big boss. What it will obtain, not without difficulties, in addition to presenting a c.v that it voluntarily had, let us say, improved. She obtains an employment and even a promotion some month later.

Four years later, all goes well until the day when, invited to sing in front of 5000 Royal bank clerks joined together with the Palate of the Congresses of Montreal, the engineer of sound presents himself at the end of the spectacle and tightens a chart of businesses in Marie-Chantal by saying to him that the registered person is in the search of artists in her style. It is presented to hearing and in spite of a sinusitis which tortures it, that which will be its manager during the two following years, offers a contract at once to him. Bye Bye banks, return to the song!

It is during the recording of its first album which was to have as a title " poison fatal" that the things were spoiled. Mayfair nitwit realizes of the subterfuge of her manager who had offered his songs to other interpreters with an aim of obtaining subsidies. She immediately makes terminate the contract and leaves to research another business manager. There will be two others during the following years of them. Conscious of its " head of pig " , Marie-Chantal says being passed beside beautiful occasions, but which it knew too what it wished to play only the game of a manager. How this time when, after a meeting with Luc Plamondon, she auditioned and was accepted within the French team of Starmania in the role of Hook… for five years!!! What she refused. Five years were too long for this girl who wanted its first album at all costs and to leave to the conquest the Québécois public. Determined to carry out her dream, Marie-Chantal recovers to research from a serious person sharing her vision and which would help with the development of its career. Meanwhile, it unearths an employment as waitress in a brewery in order to buckle the ends of the month.

At the time of an exit with a friend a certain evening, it meets that which will carry out it in the offices of Tacca Musique.

A contract is signed and a few months later, are in 1997, leave finally the first disc Marie-Chantal Toupin, " After all ". Whereas it should be with the seventh heaven, this one is rather disappointed turning of the events. It quickly realizes that it has no control on its career and which even the songs which one finds on his album do not like him at all because one did not want to make a singer rock'n'roll of it.

The episode of the " panel on the pont" , whereas to promote the exit of individual the " Look at me in the eyes " , it was shown in small nightshirt on a panel installed close to the Jacques-Cartier Bridge in Montreal, made so that its name circulated in all the media from here and besides (more than 1 million seven hundred and thousand visits on Internet site). But despite everything, Marie-Chantal was not proud of this album and had even come from there to refuse any promotion.

After having recruited a new talented and respectful manager of her needs, Marie-Chantal put a term at her agreement with Tacca Musique and found itself quickly under contract with the Tox recording company. With the exit of an album éponyme to the autumn 2000, the singer finally found shoe with her foot. More daring than ever, the rockeuse one even made of it launching with a club of naked dancers, the 281, in Montreal.

In full possession of its means, impetuous like step one, Marie-Chantal Toupin learned much from the life, even if this one were not easier. This woman with multiple passions (drawing, painting, reading, interior decoration, do-it-yourself) raises for the first time the veil on her life. Its maturity and its experiments made of it a decided woman who did not certainly finish astonishing us and to dazzle us.
