Marie-Amélie of Bourbon-Siciles
Marie Amélie Therese de Bourbon , princess of the Deux-Siciles, then duchess of Orleans, then queen of the French, born with Caserte the April 26th 1782 and died with Claremont (the United Kingdom) the March 24th 1866, is the 6th girl of the king Ferdinand I {{er}} of Deux-Siciles (1751 - 1825) and of the queen Marie-Caroline (1752 - 1814) which was the older sister of Marie Antoinette, therefore Marie Amélie was the niece of Louis XVI and cousin of Louis XVII and Mrs Royale.
The November 25th 1809, with Palermo, it marries Louis Philippe of Orleans (1773 - 1850), above duke of Chartres, oldest son of Louise Marie Adélaïde of Bourbon (grand-daughter of bastard of the king Louis XIV of France and its mistress Francoise Athénaïs de Rochechouart) and of Philippe Égalité.
They will have ten children:
- Ferdinand-Philippe (born on September 3rd, 1810), prince of blood, duke of Chartres, will become royal prince and duke of Orleans;
- Louise (born on April 3rd, 1812), princess of blood, will become Louise princess of Orleans then queen of the Belgians;
- Marie (born on April 12th, 1813), princess of blood, will become Marie princess of Orleans then duchess of Wurtemberg;
- Louis (born on October 25th, 1814), prince of blood, duke of Nemours;
- Francoise (born on March 28th, 1816), princess of blood;
- Clementine (born on June 3rd, 1817), princess of blood, will become Clémentine princess of Orleans then princess of Saxony Cobourg Gotha and duchess in Saxony;
- François (born on August 14th, 1818), prince of blood, prince de Joinville;
- Charles (born on January 1st, 1820), prince of blood, duke of Penthièvre;
- Henri (born on January 16th, 1822), prince of blood, duke of Aumale;
- Antoine (born on July 31st, 1824), prince of blood, duke of Montpensier, will become infant of Spain.
In 1814, Louis Philippe of Orleans receives the title of Duc of Orleans, then in 1830 it becomes king of the French under the name of Louis-Philippe Ier, until in 1848. To the advertisement of this advent, Marie-Amélie would have said, in tears: “ What a catastrophe! ”. All its life, it was an example of dignity and honesty, love for her husband and his children, while remaining with the variation of the political matters.
In 1840, Marie-Amélie gives her name to the town of Amélie-the-Baths-Palalda, in the the Eastern Pyrenees.
After the revolution of 1848, it is exiled with her husband in England, with Claremont, in the Surrey, under the Titer of courtesy of “countess of Neuilly”.
She survived sixteen years Louis-Philippe and died the March 24th 1866.
