Marie-Agnes Gillot

Marie-Agnes Gillot is a French Danseuse born in 1975 with Caen.

Biography

It enters to the School of Dance of the Opéra of Paris at the 10 years age, in 1985. In 1989, with 14 years and half, it is allowed in the body of ballet of the Opera with a waiving of age limit.

It climbs the levels there very quickly:

1991: it is promoted squares.
1992: it is promoted Coryphée. The same year, it takes part in the international Concours of ballet of Varna where it arrives finalist. It takes part in the poetic creation of Attentat of Daniel Larrieu.
1993: she dances Gisele (Mats Ek) and one of the fairies of the prolog of Sleeping Beauty (Rudolf Noureiev) at the time of the evening “Young people dancers” with the Opéra Garnier.
1994: she is promoted prone. She takes part in the world creation of the ballet the Park (Angelin Preljocaj) and also dances Till Eulenspiegel (Till the Mischievous one) reconstituted by Mr. Hodson and K. Archer (according to Vaslav Nijinski).
1996: she takes part in the creation of the Magnificat (John Neumeier) and is selected once more to dance one evening Jeunes dancers (evening the purpose of which is to put forward the young talents) at the sides of Karl Paquette to interpret the step of two of the Corsaire (Marius Petipa), dance in Casse-Noisette (Noureiev), in Sérénade where she obtains the role of the Angel and in Capriccio the role of the soloist.
1997: Kader Belarbi (principal dancer of the Opera of Paris and choreographer) chooses it for its creation Salle of the lost steps . She dances in Signes (Carolyn Carlson), Sleeping Beauty (Noureiev) where she is the fairy Violente, the Wicked fairy or the Lilas fairy. She is Henriette and dance the great Spanish step in Raymonda (Noureiev). This same year, Marie-Agnes receives the Prix of the Circle Carpeaux rewarding for young promising dancers.
1998: for the third time, it takes part in the evening Jeunes dancers, where it dances the great Hungarian traditional step of Raymonda (Noureiev). Dance in So schnell (Dominique Bagouet), the Rite of Spring (Vaslav Nijinski) and the first step of two in Vaslav (John Neumeier). She obtains many roles like Myrtha in Gisele , the mistress of Lescaut in the History of Manon , the queen of the dryades and the dancer of the streets in Don Quichotte (Noureiev.) At the beginning of year, it receives the price of a.R.O.P. (Association for the Radiation of the Opera of Paris).
1999: it is promoted first dancer.

March 18th, 2004, following the representation of Signs of Carolyn Carlson, Marie-Agnes Gillot is named principal dancer Ballet of the national Opera of Paris.

Its very first choreography is one eight minutes for the Opera of Paris. In January 2007, it creates its second choreography Rares Differences with a ballet dancer, Julie Guibert, in alternation with Marjorie Hannoteaux, and two dancers of Hip-hop, Brieuc Carpentier and Marc Mandravaheloka, alias Fish, at the time of the 15th edition of the festival Suresnes Cités Dance. It was received by an enthusiastic press.
