Marianus Scotus
Marianus Scotus (1028 - 1082 or 1083), is a chronicler Irish (which must be distinguished from its homonym, abbot of St Pierre of Regensburg died in 1088), also called Máel Brigte , or “Follower of St Brigid” ( Devotee off St Brigid in English).
He was informed by certain Tigernach, and was become monk, he crossed Europe in 1056, and passed the remainder of his life in Saint Martin's day abbeys to Cologne, Fulda, and Mainz. He died in the latter the December 22nd 1082 or 1083.
Marianus wrote a Chronicon , which wants to be to be a universal history of world since its creation at the year 1082. This Chronicon was very popular with the Moyen-âge, and was used much by Florence de Worcester and other authors. It was printed for the first time at Basle in 1559, and it received an introduction of Georg Waitz for the Monumenta Germaniae Historica.
