Marianne Pajot
Marianne Pajot or Marie-Anne Pajot , born towards 1641, died with the Castle of Wood-Froust to Niort-the-Fountain the October 19th 1681, buried with the Bénédictines of Lassay , girl of the apothecary of Miss de Montpensier, was a remarkable character of the 17th century by its beauty and its spirit. Of its marriage with Armand de Madaillan, it had a son, Leon.
Biography
Become widowed at 23 years, Armand de Madaillan was extremely enthusiast and married it in spite of the opposition of his/her father, Louis de Madaillan, marquis de Montataire. According to the tradition, their wedding night lasted 72 hours…The marquis de Montataire for price of his assent imposed a treaty on his son the March 30th 1676 by which it withdrew in Armand the ground of Montataire and left him the private mansion of Paris and the marquisat of Lassay, in the condition of dealing with part of its debts.
Marianne had been promised in marriage to Charles of Lorraine, duke of Lorraine, and had been about to marry it in 1662. At the time of the signature, the king sent his minister Tellier to obtain from Marianne Pajot which it made give up the duke his rights on Lorraine. If she did not agree to act in this direction, the king would make it lock up in a convent. Marianne did not lend itself to this arrangement and refused any Net to enter the sights of the king. It returned to the duke his word and was led to the City-the Bishop , where it remained locked up all the time stay of the duke of Lorraine in France.
This adventure would have been known of Marivaux and as topic for its novel the Life of Marianne would have been used to him.
