Maria Casarès

Maria Casarès (Maria Victoria Casares Pérez) born the November 21st 1922 with Corogne, dead the November 22nd 1996 with Alloue (F-16490) is an actress of Cinéma and Théâtre of Galician origin .

It was the girl of Santiago Casares Quiroga (Corogne 1884 - Paris 1950) lawyer of profession, Prime Minister for the Second Spanish Republic and constrained to resign on July 18th, 1936 at the time of the bursting of the military insurrection, her mother was called Gloria Pérez, deceased in Paris in 1945. Its family left the Spain and arrived at Paris on November 20th, 1936, the birthday day before of Maria. She meets the actor of Spanish nationality there Pierre Alcover. This one helps the Casares family and pushes Maria to make theater.

With the Conservatory , it was noticed by Jean Marchat and Marcel Heraand who went up for it of 1942 to 1944 Deirdre of the pains of Synge, the Voyage of Thésée of Georges Neveux, Silness the manufacturer of Henrik Ibsen and the Misunderstanding of Albert Camus.

It buys on June 10th, 1961 the manor and grounds of the Alder located on the commune of Alloue. She marries on June 27th 1978 an old friend, André Schlesser, deceased in Alloue in 1985. Overcome by cancer it rests beside her husband in the cemetery of this commune. To thank France for having been a ground of asylum, Maria Casarès, without descent, made gift, with her death, the commune of Alloue, her field of the Alder located on Right Bank of Charente, upstream of the village.

She was with Jean Vilar with the NPT, one of the first to give to the Festival of Avignon her noble letters.

The near total of the catalog of films consists of French films. Some go until qualifying it “superstar”, expression usually reserved for actors having a greater notoriety than that of Maria Casarès.
