Maria Bueno

Maria Ester Vacuum-tube Bueno (born the October 11th 1939 with São Paulo) is a player of Tennis Brésil ienne. She played of 1958 at the end of the 1970.

Beginning very young person tennis, it takes part in its first tournaments in Brazil as of twelve years, gaining the first (into simple) with fourteen.

She aligns herself in international competitions starting from 1958.

In 1959, it becomes the first not American to gain Wimbledon and the Internationaux of the United States the same year. It is then celebrated like a heroin on its return in its country. It republishes the same performance in 1964.

Before 1968 (beginnings of the Open era), it always reached into simple at least the quarterfinals of each tournament of the Grand Slam in which it was aligned (thirty-three participations).

End 1970, after a long interruption, its results remain anecdotic (not better than one 4th turn).

During her career, Maria Bueno took down nineteen titles of the Grand Slam, that is to say seven into simple, eleven into double ladies, one in mixed double.

She is member of the International Tennis Hall off Famed since 1978.
