Marguerite Tudor

Marguerite Tudor (November 29th 1489 in Westminster - October 18th 1541), was the oldest daughter of Henri VII of England and Elisabeth of York.

The August 8th 1503 with Edinburgh, it marries Jacques IV of Scotland and becomes queen of Scotland. This marriage opened the rights of Jacques VI of Scotland on the crown of England.

After the loss of several children is born, the April 10th 1512 with Linlithgow, a heir who will become Jacques V of Scotland.

The September 9th 1513 Jacques IV is killed with the Bataille of Flodden Field leaving his pregnant widowed wife. The child, Alexander, Duke of Ross, are born in April 1514, but he dies before its second birthday.

In 1514, Margaret remarie with a noble Scot: Douglas Archibald, 6th Count d' Angus. This marriage pokes the jealousy of noble and the opposition which supports the French influence in Scotland. The civil war bursts and Margaret loses regency with the profit of John Stuart, Duc of Albany, more the male close relative of the late king Jacques IV. It is forced to regain England by leaving its two sons in Scotland.

The October 8th 1515 is born his/her daughter Margaret Douglas. The marriage with Archibald Douglas is unhappy, and Margaret does not have of cease to claim a divorce which it will obtain in 1528. She remarie third once with Henry Stewart, Lord Methven in 1528 and dies in October 1541. She was large the mother of Marie Stuart.
