Marcus Livius Salinator

Marcus Livius Salinator was a Roman Consul (219 av. J. - C) which made successfully the war in Illyrie.

Raised again with the consulate into -207, with Caius Claudius Nero, its personal enemy, he forgot his hatred to think only of the good of his fatherland, and helped of all his capacity his colleague to overcome Hasdrubal. Elected official later critic, it created a tax on salt, which made him give the nickname of “ Salinator ”, name which remained since with its family.
