Marc Antoine the Speaker ( Marcus Antonius Orator ) was a Roman speaker , grandfather of triumvir Marc Antoine, and was Consul in -99.
, During the civil war, being declared for Sylla against Marius, this one gave order to kill it, and made expose its head on the platform to the harangues in -87. According to Cicéron, it was one of the largest speakers of its time: its eloquence was especially remarkable by suddenness, the flexibility, liveliness, the action. Never he wrote his speeches.
He is, with Crassus, the principal character of the dialog De Oratore of Cicéron.
