Born in 1947, Marcelle Padovani is resulting from a rather modest Corsican family from which it undoubtedly draws a republican political culture. In November 1970, it leaves the Express train for the Nouvel Observateur.

It is initially primarily in charge with the PCF and the various forces gauchists (Proletarian Gauche, LCR, PSU).
