Marcel and his Orchestra

Marcel and its Orchestra are a group French of Ska and festive songs originating in Boulogne-sur-Mer in the Pas-de-Calais.

Presentation

The first question which comes to mind is the following one: Why to have chosen a name and costumes also not very gravitational and such bad tastes?

First of all to give a style but also, according to the dires of the group, to try to see until where they could arrive with this particular style. Indeed the group wished to have a recognition not related on their look and their aspect (contrary with much of groups) but to their talent and musical quality. In spite of a name also handicapping, it would seem that the final goal of recognition was reached: to play Olympia with a public, obviously, always to go.

Being defined as the better group of “Ska-Punk Mussels Fried” , Marcel and its Orchestra mix a Punk - aggressive Rock with involving melodies played with the Trombone, the Trompette and the Saxophone (Tof and Tibal).

The completely removed from rim words tell their escapades in the north of France ( “62 Be wary-Te” ), in homage to their area of origin or their contempt for the " Y' has that with… " and of the " Is necessary that one… " ( “Stops your squeaky fiddle” ).

Combining claiming songs ( “If that brings back” , “Hullabaloo claims” etc), of the songs with festive texts ( “My sister” , “the large Madam” ), even of the political songs, in support for Metaleurop in particular ( " Bad Poker" Trip; ), their will artistic is expressed in the triptych " dance, talks cock and dénonce" . For this reason the group does not hesitate to begin at the time of special concerts (for the French Communist party at the time of the French presidential election in 2007 for example) or at the time of a concert with Liévin in support for paid Metaleurop factory.

Their music can appear rather punk with premium listens but it is noticed quickly that coppers are always present and give again with the song its festive character.

Marcel became in a few years one of the outstanding ambassadors of the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
