Marcel Thil

Marcel Thil , born the May 25th 1904 with Saint-Dizier and dead the August 14th 1968 with Cannes, is famous a Boxeur French having passed most of its existence with Rheims.

Large friend of the actor Jean Gabin, Marcel Thil fought in the the Thirties in the category of the average weights, category of which he was world champion of 1932 to 1937. When its career stopped, Marcel Thil became trainer and supervisor of matches then president of Boxing Club of Dieppe.

Decorated with the Legion of honor in 1961, Marcel Thil mourrut with Cannes the August 14th 1968 of the continuations of an car accident. Its body rests with the cemetery of Cannes. In 1929, it had married Georgette Taitard, the girl of her manager.

Several stages and streets of France bear its name, in addition registers with the International Boxing Hall off Famed of Canastota, in the State of New York, with the the United States.

  • Champion of Europe of the means in 1929 (vis-a-vis Italian Mario Bosisio with Milan) until in 1937 (vis-a-vis Carmello Candel).
  • Champion of France of the means in 1928.
