Marcel Paul
Marcel Paul is a French politician, born the July 12th 1900 with Paris and deceased the November 11th 1982 in the Island Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis).
Biography
Trade-union activist dice 1922, Marcel Paul will be General secretary of the federation of the lighting of CGTU of 1931 to 1935, then of the CGT federation of 1937 to 1966. He had adhered to the Communist party in 1923, had become near to Maurice Thorez which he admired deeply. In 1934, he is elected, with Leon Mauvais communist city council man in the 14th district of Paris. He will resign in 1937 when he is elected general secretary of the CGT federation of lighting. Mobilized in 1939, it is made prisoner at the time of the rout, manages to escape and regain Paris, but as it does not find the contact with the Communist party, it leaves for Brittany to bicycle where it joins again with the party and in particular with Auguste Havez, regional boss of Brittany. It more or less shares the responsibilities for interregional for Brittany with Havez until November 40, during one time when Havez had positions much more anti-allemandes that those of Duclos and Tréand in Paris. In November 40, it joined the Paris region where it deals at the same time with the organization of " organization spéciale" (OS) and to join again with its trade-union relations. After June 41, it is invested with its groups of OS in the action anti-allemande.It is stopped the November 13rd 1941 by the Brigade Special and led to the police station of Saint-Denis. Interned to the power station of Fontevraud in February 1943, it is then transferred to Blois. Delivered to the Germans with part of the prisoners, it is directed on Compiegne, then off-set with Buchenwald (April 14th, 44). It is there that it becomes the person in charge of the " committee of the interests français" chaired by colonel Manhès. It has a big role in the insurrection of the camp in April 1945. This " committee of the interests français" manages to preserve worse certain French. One of most known is Marcel Bloch, alias Marcel Dassault, which will express its gratitude thereafter by paying each year an amount of money to the federation of the deportees FNDIRP.
With the Libération it is Ministre of the industrial production in the Provisional government of the French Republic: from January 26th to June 24th, 1946 in the Government Felix Gouin and from June 24th to December 16th, 1946 in the Government Georges Bidault (1). It makes vote the law of nationalization of electricity and gas the April 8th 1946 creating Électricité de France and Gaz de France.
It founds with colonel Manhès the National federation of the deportees and internees resistant and patriots in October 1945.
He is appointed communist High-Vienna with the Second constituent National Assembly, then with the National Assembly of 1945 with 1948, year when he resigns.
He sits at the Central committee of the French Communist party of 1945 with 1964.
The big room of the Labor market of Saint-Denis bears her name.
