Marcel Jeulin

Marcel JEULIN (1921 - 1944) is a Résistant French of the Second world war.

Antecedents

Born with Trimouille, Vienna on February 3rd, 1921, orphan at the 9 years age, it is collected by its nurse and, after the certificate of studies, learns the trade from Forgeron to Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire.

After having worked with Versailles and Doves, it becomes Ouvrier with the SNCF and takes on October 7th 1939 with the Military Intendance of Tours by preceding the call. Affected in the 49e Battalion of Tanks, it takes part in the countryside of France during which it is wounded with the enemy on May 25th 1940. A little later it is named Caporal.

Decorated with the Military Cross and demobilized on July 27th, 1940, it returns in Indre-et-Loire.

Entry in the Resistance

It enters resistance spontaneously activates and organizes a group with some comrades without any external contact.

Jeulin joined the workshop of the forging mills of the Railroads in March 1941. It makes jump a German gasoline train to Saint-Pierre-of-Body and cuts down a German sentinel Rue of Sanitas with Tours. Denounced with the Gestapo by Métaireau , which had been interned with Compiegne like Communiste, it is stopped on September 16th 1942 by Georg Brückle and is tortured by frightening the Clara Knecht .

A skilful escape

In prison, Jeulin learns German and prepares his escape. It becomes acquainted with Paul the Jordan alias Pierre Joubert , 34 years, decree on October 2nd 1943. This last, also denounced, was tortured by Brückle and hardly returns from the hospital.

Grocer with Tours and charcoal furnace for the Indre-et-Loire, it is one of the leaders of the Groupe Rabelais whose founder is Alfred Bernard alias Uncle Fred , 44 years, former Communist passed to SFIO before war.

This group of resistance, extremely of 300 members in September 1943, fact part of the military network of action of the northern zone, Area “M” (Normandy, Brittany, Anjou, Touraine, 14 departments) BOA “office of the air operations”, whose Jean-François Clouet of Pesruches alias Galileo , 26 years, is the regional military delegate.

“Jeulin, which leaves and returns in its cell as it wishes it thanks to the keys that it forged, and moves officially two hours per morning because he went voluntary for the drudgery of sweeping of the corridors, got civil clothing. He at the head puts himself to escape with the Jordan, locked up in a cell of the lower stage, with which he communicates thanks to a discharge pipe. He asks him to be forwarded a towel, glasses with large mountings of scale, an elegant coat and a hat.

And, on December 23rd, 1943, Jeulin, which reproduced the keys of the cell of the Jordan, the fate of its cell and the conduit, brush with the hand, towards the exit: it is a man of service which controls with respect a lawyer through the meanders of the prison. Arrived at the counter of entry, the lawyer, on the request for his escort ship, produces his papers of authorization of visit to the employee who has just taken his faction. The changing is specific, the man thus did not see lawyer penetrating in the prison. Jeulin and the Jordan lavish pleasant greetings while the large door entrebâille. Before keeps it does not have time to push back it, Jeulin threaded behind false lawyer and is inserted in the busy street. Some too late shots. The sacrifice of a combatant of the shade

Their head is put at price. Jeulin lives from now on with Paris, it becomes bodyguard of Clouet of Pesruches. It saves the life to him by killing with its revolver two German police officers come to challenge it in a coffee close to the place from the Star.

March 21st 1944, the secretary of Clouet, Elisabeth Friang known as Brigitte alias Galileo 2 , 20 years, is stopped after having received a ball and is transferred to the Hôpital of Pity, in the Charles-Quentin house requisitioned by the German army. Jeulin is in charge of the rescue operation. April 10th at the evening, the attack fails, the guard having been reinforced in the afternoon. The 11, whereas Jeulin prepares a second knack, Brigitte is transferred to the Prison from Fresnes. Continued, Jeulin succeeds in escaping from those which wanted to stop it in the corridors of the subway by killing a police officer of RG.

But, the following day, it is stopped, carrying machine-guns and grenades, by the French police force, and is led to the Police headquarter of Paris, quay of Gesvres. It makes warn Clouet, receives a cord thanks to complicities, and escapes from the 2nd stage, constrained to plunge in the Seine to escape the balls.

May 19th about midnight, the Jordan commits suicide by throwing 4th stage of a hotel close to the Gilded Porte, street Pergolèse, whereas the Milice awaited it its door. Questioned, his/her partner gives the address of Bernard, not far from there, to the 93 of the avenue of the Bizot General. It is lodged with Jeulin at the wife of the Secretary of State to the supply, François Chasseigne .

May 20th with 6:00, Bernard and Jeulin are attacked by Gestapo. Jeulin kills a German inspector. While wanting to cover the escape of Uncle Fred , it is cut down on the roofs of the building of a ball in full head. Bernard is stopped and will die under torture in July 1944.

Marcel Jeulin was created Compagnon of the Release by decree of July 7th 1945.
