Marcel Dassault (born Marcel Bloch the January 22nd 1892 with Paris - April 17th 1986 with Neuilly-sur-Seine) was a Engineer and Entrepreneur French. He is especially known as a founder and a chairman of the Groupe Dassault.
Biography
After secondary studies passed to the College Condorcet, it enters to the École of electricity Bréguet (ESIEE), then integrates the University of aeronautics and mechanical engineering (Supaéro) which it leaves graduate in 1913.
It draws the Hélice Éclair for plane, used by French aviation during the First World War and built its first plane in 1917. It leaves a time the aeronautical field. Then it returns to aeronautics in 1928, and founds the Société of the Planes Marcel Bloch. Its company being nationalized under the name SNCASO in 1937, it creates a few months later the Public limit company of the Planes Marcel Bloch (SAAMB).
During the Second world war, having refused to collaborate with the occupying forces, it is stopped in 1940 by the French police force. Stopped with his wife and her children, internees with Montluc and then with Drancy, it is off-set with Buchenwald in 1944 and is saved eight month later by Marcel Paul, member of the French Communist party, and also by Albert Baudet. It will express thereafter its gratitude by naming Albert Baudet directing of the publicity of the magazine Jours of France and by paying each year an amount of money to the newspaper Humanity and to the federation of the deportees FNDIRP.
In 1946, it makes change its patronym into Bloch-Dassault (decree published with the Official journal of December 4th, 1946), then in Dassault (decree published with the Official journal of February 15th, 1949). Dassault is a deformation of code name Tank used by his/her brother, the general Darius Paul Bloch, in resistance.
Its company becomes the Société of the Planes Marcel Dassault which produces the first jets French: Hurricane (1949), Mystery II (1952), Mirage III (1956), Mirage IV (1959) which equips the French nuclear forces and the civil aircraft, twin-jet aircraft of businesses Mystery-Falcon (1963). An electronic division is created in 1954 for the development of the guidance of missiles.
Absorbing the Bréguet factories, the SAMD is famous Avions Marcel Dassault-Breguet Aviation (AMD-BA) in 1971. It produces then the Alpha Jet (1973), plane of drive which equips inter alia the Patrouille with France, the Mirage 2000 (1978), the transport aircraft of passengers Mercure 100 (1973), the Rafale and of the evolutions of the series of the Falcon. It thus creates for itself a military and civil industry group centered on aviation, electronics (Electronic Serge Dassault) and data processing (Dassault Systèmes). Company AMDBA will be famous Dassault Aviation . In 1976, the company is splashed by a scandal: an former executive laid off, Herve de Vathaire, reveals a massive tax evasion, Jacques Chirac, former Secretary of State to Finances and very related to the group Dassault, lack to be compromised. H. of Vathaire is reinstated and the Dassault company manages to escape legal proceedings. In 1981, she escapes the nationalization by making gift in the State from 26% from the actions from this one.
It is also interested in the press by creating a weekly magazine Jours of France , competitor of Paris-Match, in which it made a good share with aviation and its idols Chantal Goya and Thierry the Lad. He held itself a heading, the Coffee the commercial .
He was Producteur of cinema.
He was senator of the the Alpes-Maritimes, then appointed Oise, senior of the National Assembly of 1978 to 1986.
He was decorated with the highest French distinction, Large the cross of the Légion of honor.
In the prize list of greatest fortunes of France, it was the first in 1985.
The place of the Roundabout of the Fields-Élysées is famous Rond-Point of the Fields-Elysées Marcel Dassault in 1992.
Hergé took as a starting point him to create the character of Laszlo Carreidas in the album of Tintin Vol 714 for Sydney

Marcel Dassault counts among the members of his family Jose de Bérys, Francine Bloch, Darius Milhaud and Pierre Vidal-Naquet.
Marcel Bloch, born Jewish, converts with the Catholicisme in 1950. He is buried with the Cimetière of Passy.
His/her son Serge took his succession with the head of the group until 2000.
