Marcel Broodthaers

Marcel Broodthaers is a Belgian Artiste plastics technician born the January 28th 1924 with Brussels and deceased the January 28th 1976 with Cologne.

Biography

Student, it gives up his studies of Chimie to devote itself entirely to the Poésie.

Large admiror of Mallarmé and Magritte, it is interested in the relationship between the artist and the company.

At the end of the Years 1950, it publishes the first collection of poems of its four volumes My book of Ogre .

In 1963, it drowns its last collection of poem in plaster and exposes it like sculpture.

Of 1964 to 1970, its works are composed of objects, assemblies, accumulations (shells of eggs, bricks, moulds, etc) where humor and absurdity mix.

In 1968, it names itself “preserving of the Musée of Modern art department of the eagles ” which it has creates. He proposes environments, kinds of Ready-made in reference to writers and poets. He develops the contradictory relation between the language and the image.

Later, it widens its sphere of activity with engravings, films, assemblies of slides and transforms its exposures into true works of art having for topic the critic of seeing and showing, the direction and the context, the setting in expository scene, decoration and museum.
